Believers vs Deniers

  1. And, like Galileo said:

    "E pur si muove"

Real science will win out in the end, even though the "post-normal" freaks are now (and have been for some time) claiming it's irrelevant to their concept of politically manipulated pseudo-science.

But beware. We are now moving on to the ocean acidification claims as an alternative scare story to justify their claims. This is pure bollocks too (CO2 concentrations have been many times higher in the past without managing to kill the oceans) - but I'm sure they won't let anything as inconvenient as truth get in the way of their assertions and misrepresentations - one only has to hear what the maniac narcissist and billionaire Gore spouts to understand this. Lies, lies and more lies. Lies that our government heartily endorses and wraps itself in to suit its own political and economic ends.

Thank you Plato, you're doing a great job along with the other sceptic footsloggers. There's a long way to go yet though.

  2. If like your shrimp, ocean acidification ain't a problem.

Scientists see deep-sea volcano for first time

"Scientists said the water around the volcano was more acidic than battery acid, but shrimp and certain microbes could thrive in such harsh conditions. Biologists will study these creatures to see if they are unique to this volcanic environment."

Perhaps life can adapt very quickly (as volcanoes erupt without warning) or bog standard shrimp are hardy buggers.

Science done behind closed doors and elevated to a pedestal is not science, it is religion, hysteria, mania or something equally irrational. When major figures in politics can say the science is now un-settled but we must push forward, while jetting about the world (RK Pachauri racked up 440,000 airmiles in 18 months) we can merrily ignore them. They do not believe what they say enough to set an example.

When elected and unelected world leaders can make shrill calls for any kind of settlement lest it be seen to be a waste of time and £130millions again they do not believe what they say - they just want to look important/not incompetent.

What has convinced African states to stop asking for free trade and start asking for subsidies? Has the whole world veered left?
